Seven things you might not have known about me. . .

Hello, and welcome to Bunny Cottage! I am so glad you could drop by for a while! I recently received an award from my friend, Jocelyn, of "Just a Little Southern Hospitality". I was very honored to receive the award, and according to Jocelyn, I am to share seven things about myself. I encourage you to pay Jocelyn a visit when you have the opportunity. She is a sweet gal who loves her home and family. You can find her here: http://justalittlesouthernhospitality.blogspot.com/

Seven things you might now know about me:
1. As a young girl, I had a crush on Elvis (still do!). When other girls were swooning over the Beatles, I was swooning over Elvis. My momma loved him, too. We would go to the drive-in movie and watch his movies.
2. I once owned a cherry red 1960 Plymouth Fury that was a film star. This car was in a couple of movies filmed here in Texas: "Born on the Fourth of July" starring Tom Cruise and "A Perfect World" starring Clint Eastwood. That is about as close to stardom as I will ever get!!
3. I love reading to children. When I was in the classroom, never a year went by that I didn't read "Charlotte's Web" to my children. We always had a good cry at the end!
4. My dad was a cotton farmer. He loved to plant those cotton seeds and watch those beautiful plants come up. I, too, love to plant and watch things grow. I grow around 100 rose bushes, most of them antique and old garden roses.
5. As a young girl, I read every "Archie" comic book I could get my hands on.
6. Although I am a 5th generation Texan, I grew up in Carlsbad, NM. Carlsbad is home to the world famous "Carlsbad Caverns". Carlsbad High School where I graduated had a caveman as their mascot. Our sports teams were called "The Carlsbad Cavemen".
7. I am a hopeless romantic! I watch "Sense and Sensibility" at least twice a year.

Well, dear friends, I hoped you enjoyed learning a little more about me. We are expecting snow tomorrow so I went to the store to stock up on food items that I might need. If we get snow here, things have a tendency to come to a stand still (we aren't used to that white stuff!). I hope you have a fun-filled week full of fun and laughter! Blessings to each and everyone of you!

I loved the Archie comic books too. When I was in Jr. High School I think I got everyone that was made at the time. I wished I still had them all.

Hi Vicki, I can't believe how many things we have in common, I too love Elvis (who doesn't!) and I read every Archie comic book there ever was! I can't read Charlotte's Web without cryinng though... I love your car! Years ago, I wanted one that was almost the twin of yours! It was a Plymouth Fury, red convertible even, but my daddy wouldn't let me buy it because it had a Hemi... he knew I would speed around in it and he was right! Fun learning a few new things about you! I knew you have lived in Carlsbad as we have talked about that! Love to you... xoxo Julie Marie

Hi Vickie, enjoyed reading your post today and the comments. Wow, that's a lot of rose
bushes, wish I could grow them here in Central TX, I just don't have the "rose thumb"! I loved Elvis too, he and I have the same birthday, Jan 8. The snow might come through Austin tomorrow, very unusual for us.

Hi Vicki!
I could put a few of those on my list too!
I have some movies that I call my "comfort" movies... I could watch "While You Were Sleeping" and "You've Got Mail" many times a year... I also love the Jane Austen movies!
Many wishes for a wonderful week!
We're getting more snow here in upstate, NY!

What a great car. Who wouldn't love it. Wish I could grow 100 roses I know they are just beautiful. Wish roses were easier to grow here in the midwest. I struggle with the few I have. Thanks for letting us get to know you better.

I've never known anyone else but me who loved the Archie Comic Books!!I totally related to Betty!! Loved Elvis, too. I always cry when reading/watching Charlotte's Web ~ my little granddaughter always thought that was so silly! Cool that your car was in both those movies.

So fun learning more about you. When I was 12, I got my first tape recorder for Christmas. There was a special about Elvis' music since he had died the year earlier; I taped the whole thing and sang to his music over and over and over, on car trips, in my bedroom. My aunt who has since passed also loved him and collected tons of memorabilia. My girlfriend in San Antonion said the snow lasted long enough for her to get pictures and then it was over. Hope you are having a fabulous day. Blessings, Tammy

Hi Vickie~
This is my second time visiting Bunny Cottage and my first time leaving a comment. Kinda make me wonder why I haven't dropped in for several more visits before because your blog is such a delight and I really enjoyed reading your seven facts about you! I especially love old cars from the 40's and 50's and dream of owning a 1950's Ford or Chevy Pick up Truck someday. Hubby and I would like to buy one that's in decent shape and turn it into our fix up-project. Anyway, I too share your love of old roses and bought over thirty of them last spring from David Austin. Aren't they thee most beautiful flowers in thw world?
I live in upstate New York and the snow has been falling all week long! Oh well, can't do much fretting about that, right! Soon springtime will bless us with all her beauty and I will be in heaven once again!
Have a wonderful weekend~ Stephanie
