Welcome to tea, dear friends!!!

Welcome to tea, dear friends!! I am so glad you could stop by for a visit. I have a comfortable chair waiting for you, my favorite tea kettle is heating on the stove, one of my favorite rose covered tea pots and cups are ready to be filled, and I have a plate of goodies for us to enjoy. I also wanted to show you a glimpse of my garden. My flowers are loving the autumn weather and rain we have been receiving. One of my favorite things is vintage images so I like to include those in my posts as well. I am so happy to be joining you for the first time for "Tea Things Tuesday" so graciously hosted by Kim of Shabby, Pink and Pretty. Thank you, Kim, for hosting our event each week.
When I think of tea, a couple of childhood memories come to my mind. As a young girl growing up in the 1950's, my mom loved to cook for our family. She made everything "from scratch", and of course, everything tasted delicious. One recipe she used to make was cookies that she called her "tea cakes". They were a very plain cookie but not really a sugar cookie. They were puffy and would just melt in your mouth. How I wish I had that recipe now. Although, I am sure mine would never taste as heavenly as hers did. She may have just had this recipe "in her head" as she had many of her recipes memorized. My mom was so sweet and kind and made everyone feel extra special.
Another memory I have from my girlhood days was a little song we used to sing about a teapot. Perhaps it will spark a memory for you, too. The song goes like this:

I'm a little teapot
Short and stout
Here is my handle
Here is my spout

When I get all steamed up,
Hear me shout:
"Tip me over
and pour me out!"

Please visit Kim and all the other participants to see all of their tea things for today. You can find Kim here:

Again, thank you for coming by. I love to have company!!

Hello Vicki, what a fun post and happy memories! I remember singing that little song too, and we would dance and be little teapots! Your mama sounds so sweet and her cookies sound yummy... my mama used to make some that sound similar to those, she called them sour cream drop cookies (back when sour cream was cream you soured yourself)... I have alot of her old recipes, I will try to find that one and email it to you... may not be the same kind your mama made, but they were yummy too! What a lovely tea party you gave today, thank you! Bisous... Julie Marie

What a comfortable and lovely spot for tea. Your plate of goodies looks so inviting as does your garden and surroundings! Nice memories of your mother, too -- those were the days, when everything was made from scratch, a much simpler time. Thanks for inviting us in for tea time! Peace & blessings, Tammy

I loved each and every one of your pictures and your treasures, especially the treasured memories of your mother. You have beautiful things and a lovely garden. Thank you for letting me visit. All these beautiful blogs with the beautiful tea things, I kind of feel like a little girl playing tea party, and your little song brings back memories, I almost can feel the hand on my head and on my hip. PS I had to take the teapot position for old times sake.

Hi Vicki,
Everything is so beautiful. The chair by the bed is gorgeous! You had wondered where I lived in West Texas, well I lived in Abilene. Most of my kids were in college there at Abilene Christian University at the time. I still had one at home full time though. Enjoyed my time there in Abilene. I know where Hale is, passed through there many a time. Isn't that fun!

I love your 'tea' post.We always had 'teas' when we were young and I used to help and hand round the sandwiches and cakes.Mum used to get out her best china and the silver teapot.
I have cake recipes handed done from HER Mum's family.
I LOVE to invite people for tea and it gives me the chance to use all my vintage china!

Hi Vicki! How fun and so sweet of you to have us all for tea :)
Love the little treats too.
My memories of tea are with my grandmother. We would have tea and go through almost a whole row of saltines with butter and jam. I can still remember how cozy it all felt.
Thanks for the inspiration to sit back and enjoy some memories.
God Bless
Maria

Hi Vicki,
Oh how I love coming over for a cup of tea and a stroll through your beautiful garden. (How I wish I really could. :-) Anyway, what a beautiufl rose tea pot. And are those sweets real? Or are they those clever, realistic looking faux ones? Either way they look delish. Everything looks lovely. Have a wonderful evening.

Hi Vicki, was so glad to see your comment on my recent post! Always so wonderful to meet new folks here in blogland. I just have to tell you what a lovely blog you have, and your gorgous rose design teapot and cups, oh my gosh, I have to keep taking another peek at the pictures all the time cuz I am so in love with them. I would love to start a pretty teapot and cup collection, but I can never seem to find vintage teapots that catch my fancy here in Germany, right in the heart of coffee drinkers!! :-) Anyway, I will be back again to see what else is new, warmly, Debby
