My new RED chairs!!!

Hello, dear friends! Now, I know what you are thinking. How could this shabby chic PINK girl have bought RED chairs? Well, what you don't know is that there is a WALK ON THE WILD SIDE RED girl just waiting to come out!! A couple of months ago, my friend Jean, and I went to IKEA. I had heard that IKEA carried Cath Kidston items, and I was wanting some of her tin canisters. I had never been to this store before, and let me tell you, it was quite an experience. The store was very large and kind of like a maze (I later found out they had a store map). In fact, I felt like Gretel and thought maybe I should leave bread crumbs behind so that Jean and I could find our way out. I did not find any Cath Kidston, but I did find these red chairs and instantly fell in love with them. I loved the cute printed cherry apple red material they were made of and also the shape of them. I was really wanting to change my living room up and so to make a long story short, I bought these chairs. I also bought two white chairs to replace my sofa that I had for several years. You may remember that I have said if I find something I really love, I buy it and then find a place for it. I began looking around my living room to see if I had other reds, and I did. I had a red and white checked wreath, some red in a pillow, and some red in pictures around the room so I felt that my red chairs would fit in nicely. I also found the cutest kitty cat embroidered pillows to go with the chairs. Well, what do you think? Is this red working for you? I hope so because I am loving it! I hope you have had a good day today. I am back to tutoring at my school two days a week. I am enjoying being with the children again. They are so precious and so eager to learn. I love each and every one of you and wish you the very best in all things!

I LOVE your red chairs. I am not one to shy away from color -- my house is a kaleidoscope. Sometimes I think a soothing palette would be nice, but when I go to other's homes who don't have much going on, and come back to my rainbow hideaway, I feel quite happy! We have Ikea here -- I've never heard that they have Cath Kidston items. Of course, I don't go there often because I much prefer to stay home. Like you, if I see something I like, I buy it and make it fit. My husband always wonders how I can fit another chair in the living room, but I make it happen. HA! I grew up in Texas and Louisiana (although I was born in Mississippi). My hairdresser and her husband are going back to New Mexico when they leave Kuwait. I taught for 7 years but tired of that so am not working at the kids school in administration. Much more quiet environment as I used to teach kindergarten. It really is a small world. Thanks for all your visits to my little corner -- your home is just as lovely as you are! Best wishes, Tammy

Vicki, I absolutely LOVE them! They are beautiful. We seem to be finding out more and more we have in common. Under my white slipcover is a red sofa. I've only had the white for about four years now. I love the red and sometimes in the Fall I will take the slip off to enjoy it awhile. I love all your lovely things in your post tonight.

June

I love the red chairs! Red is one of my favorite colors for decorating. You can always mix pink and red too, I think. Great find. Maybe next time you'll fine what you went there to get!

I haven't been to Ikea for years as I have this thing against buying their stuff because they have put unbearable competition on people like my brother(who makes bespoke furniture and kitchens)! But heck...those chairs are gorgeous so I may just have to rethink my ban on all things Ikea!! I'm obviously missing out!

Vicki, LOVE the red chairs! I too am a Pink gal and have mostly pastels in my home, but 2 years ago when we were searching for new livingroom furniture, I happened upon the lovely burnt orange set and just had to have it! So now my once pastel livingroom is totally done in oranges, golds and soft browns. Who would have known I had it in me?? Enjoy those new chairs, and LOVE love love your embroidered kitten pillows. I wish I had a set of them, they are just about as precious as can be!!! warmly, Debby
