in the small southeastern NM town that I grew up in. . .We always had a party at school. What fun as we exchanged Valentines with our schoolmates! I always loved this!
At home, the night before the party, my momma would always help me decorate a shoebox for keeping my Valentines. . .We would add crepe paper ruffles, glitter, ribbons and lace to "fancy up" the box. I would proudly carry my box along with the Valentines for my teacher and friends to school the next morning.
When the party was over, I could hardly wait to get home with my Valentines to show my momma. Together we would look at each one and "ooh" and "aah" over it. I still have some of those cards from my classmates. Dear friends, I want to wish you a very happy Valentine's Day and hope that you have sweet memories of days gone by. . .It seems the older I become, the more nostalgic I become. . .but that is not a bad thing, is it?

I remember those day too. We just do not celebra special occassions like that anymore..All the creativity has been taken away. I love the lace cone...I am actually making Valentines for the ladies in my BIble study group. I might have to try those. Blessings!
I loved Valentine's Day, too! I still like it!
I wish you a cheerful Valentine's Day, Vicki!
My dearest Vicki...I think it's just the order of life...I, too become more nostalgic as I add another year to life. And from what I can tell from others even older than I it seems to be the norm.
What a fond, lovely memory you have...such a treasure, indeed that you and your mother shared this special time of love together. And what greater love (next to God's) than a mother's love.
My birthday is Valentine's day, so when I was a little girl I thought all the valentine candy boxes and all the cards and balloons were to celebrate my birthday...col...ahhh, the innocence of childhood. But a wonderful memory, nevertheless (I hope I'm not repeating this memory to you from a previous post..oh well).
Every birthday my mother lovingly made me a beautiful heartshaped cake with pink icing...all homemade of course. What a wonderful time.
I hope your Valentine's day is filled with love and joy.
By the way, you have the loveliest photographs...I just adore coming to visit you. I always get a warm, generous feeling when I do.
Blessings to you my dear for all of your life,
Marianne xo
