A Woman of Faith. . .

I write this post this evening in praise of my mother, Ressie Roween (Russell) Smith. She has been my guiding light and the one I look to pattern my life after. She had a strong and deep abiding faith in God and was one of the strongest persons I have ever known. Hers was a quiet strength. She never drew attention to herself but rather always looked to see how she could help someone else. My mother, my sister, my grandmothers, my aunts, and the sweet women in the church where I grew up. . . all of these ladies have helped to form and shape me into the person I am today. I thank them for this. Many of these ladies, like my mother, have gone on to heaven. However, I feel their presence daily and remember the life lessons they have taught me
so well. I have always said if I could just be half the mother my mother was to me, I would be a tremendous success. I love you, momma!

Thank you, sweet friends, for dropping by. And for all mothers everywhere, thank you, dear ones. Sending much love to each and every one of you.

That is really beautiful. Just think of the teaparty you will have in heaven! At church last night our pastor talked about the prophetess Diana and how God uses women in different ways.We must never forget how important we are to our families as we are washing, ironing, cooking and wiping little faces for we do shape lives around us!

What a very beautiful and heart-touching post. I was raised by my grandmother and what a blessing that was. She and my grandfather were so very wise and I think of them many, many times a day. I also was fortunate enough to be raised in Church and had many dear ladies that helped me become the person I am today.I catch myself always repeating things they told me, first to my own children - then grand children and hopefully to my great grand children when they are a little older.....Pauline

Hey Vicki,
Don't know if you watch Dancing With the Stars or not but there is a professional dancer on there named Cheryl--I forgot her last name--she is dancing with a football player named Chad this season--she has always been my favorite and is so pretty. The picture of your mom above looks just like Cheryl in the face. You might want to check her out.
