Love Warms Every Nest...Show and Tell Friday/Happy Pink Saturday!!

Hello, my sweet friends! Thank you so much for coming by for a visit today! I have noticed that I love to decorate my home with things from nature: birds, bird nests, bird houses, chicks, eggs and bunnies. I think this is because I am a nature lover and gardener. I especially wanted to show you my new shelf, "Love Warms Every Nest". It was painted by Ruth Ann Sebestia, an artist on E-bay. I love all of her work and think she is a very wonderful artist. I have placed some vintage bottles on the shelf and above the shelf, I have displayed some of my vintage plates. The first picture is a pretty painting by Christie Repasy. I love to "fluff" my nest with her paintings.

Beverly from "How Sweet the Sound" asked us to share a favorite holiday memory for "Pink Saturday". A Christmas memory that I have is from my childhood. I grew up in Carlsbad, New Mexico. My dad was a potash miner who worked for the Potash Company of America. Potash is a mineral used in making fertilizer and for explosives. Every Christmas the Potash Company of America would host a Christmas party for the miner's children. We would be invited to the local theater and be treated to a movie and cartoons. The movie was usually a western with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. After the movie, we would see several favorite cartoons such as Donald Duck, the Chipmunks, Tom and Jerry, and Mickey Mouse. When the movie and cartoons were over, Santa would be waiting at the door to greet us as we were leaving. He would always hand us a large Christmas stocking filled with candy, nuts, fruit, games, and other treats. This was a highlight of the Christmas season for all of us children. I would have so much fun when I got home looking at all the things I had received in my stocking and eating the Christmas candy, nuts and fruit. It is these kind of memories that make Christmas such a magical time of the year.
I am participating in "Pink Saturday" so graciously hosted each week by Beverly from "How Sweet the Sound". Please visit Beverly and all the "Pink Saturday" participants by going here: http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/
I am also participating in "Show and Tell Friday" so graciously hosted each week by Cindy from "My Romantic Home". Please visit Cindy and all the "Show and Tell Friday" participants by going here:
I hope you have had a beautiful week and are looking forward to Christmas and a visit from St. Nick. May God bless and keep you!

Your new shelf is so beautiful. I absolutely love it. The vintage bottles are so pretty on top of that lovely shelf. Great Christmas memory too. We took family vacations every year and one time spent a couple of weeks in New Mexico and Colorado. We hiked everywhere. I didn't appreciate it then but I certainly do now as I love to walk. Wishing you a blessed day and wonderful weekend. :)Tammy

Hello Vicki... this is my very favorite post of yours! You know me and Nature... your new shelf is just precious! I love all the little birds and critters you have everywhere... your childhood memories are so sweet, I miss those simpler, gentler times... it was such a special treat to receive fruit and nuts in our stockings then too... we never got them year round, that made it even more special... and those old cartoons... well, they just don't make them like that anymore either... thanks for sharing your precious memories... xoxo Julie Marie

Vicki, it is lovely! I love all of your beautiful things, and this is no exception. What sweet memories everywhere. I love the postcard as well. I have a collection of my grandmother's postcards that all pre-date 1924. That one is just adorable. I love the sweet children. But I love all of your other pretties, too. There is nothing like antique china. It is wonderful!

Happy Pink Saturday(mine will be up later)!

Sheila :-)

Hi Vicki,
Do you know how much I love coming over here and being so graciously invited in to your beautiful homw? Such a delight for me. I adore how you fluff your nest and that shelf is so amazing. I do love that Christie Repasy painting. I love all of her art and someday I will definitely own one of her pieces.
I loved reading your memories of Christmases when you were a child. In my minds eye I can see you all sitting around Santa to get your little stockings.

Hi Vicki!

I love pretty plates and birds and you have some really sweet ones. I was happy to see the little pair of tan and white birds. I had a set just like them for ages that I always loved. A few months ago I had a young family over and the little guy clapped them together causing one to chip and the other completely smashed. Oh, well, maybe I'll find another pair someday.

Sweet Christmas memory about the company Christmas party and the filled stockings :)
Really nice visiting with you!
Kindly, ldh

Vicki, I can't tell you how much it warms my heart to read your story. Beverly had a great idea when she came up with this. I love it that the company did something for all the children, that is how America used to be and I wish it were like that still, what happened and where did all the caring and love for one another go. Your story is so perfect and thankyou so much for sharing it with us, Char

Hello Vickie,

I love your sign and what it says. Very much agree on it too :-) And I think you collect such sweet things. As always, I' amazed by blue eggs (real or not), just cause I haven't sen a real one LOL.

I enjoyed readin g your story too :-) I really think this was a wonderful them Miss Beverly came up with. SOmewhere, inside our memory chest, t here is always that something that just pops. I think it's very sweet that you and all the kids were treated that special occassion. And then to receive your very own Christmas stocking filled with treats is pure heaven in children's eyes - I'm pretty sure in yours too :-)
