Looking to the past at Bunny Cottage!! Welcome to my cottage home!! It is time for tea!!

Come on in through the front gate, dear friends and welcome to my cottage home! Today for tea we are going to use a tea set given to me by my sweet sister, Myra. This tea set is handpainted with violets and trimmed with gold. You also see a lovely handpainted egg that I think goes well with the set. I am also showing you the wedding picture of my maternal grandparents, my Grandfather and Grandmother Russell. I never knew them personally. My grandfather died before I was born. My grandmother got to hold me in the hospital where she was very ill. I was just a tiny newborn. However, I know these wonderful people in my heart of hearts. My mother told me that my grandmother always grew some flowers. Her favorites were periwinkles. Each year I plant periwinkles in her memory. Last Mother's Day my daughter-in-law, Lindy, let my granddaughter, Grace, choose some flowers for me. Out of all the flowers, she chose periwinkles. She did not know that these were her great great grandmother's favorites. I later told Grace how much I loved them and how her great great grandmother did, too. I tried to show you a close up of my grandmother's dress. The front is embellished with beautiful lace and millinery. I, too, love lace and pretty millinery. I like to think that maybe my grandmother served tea from a similar teapot as mine.

The next four photos show pictures from a bay window in my sunroom. The last pictures are of my mantle and fireplace. This week I am participating in "Tea Things Tuesday" hosted by Kim of "Shabby, Pink and Pretty". Please visit our wonderful hostess, Kim, and all the tea participants by going here:
I am also participating in "Show Your Cottage Monday" hosted by Cielo of "House in the Roses". Please visit our wonderful hostess, Cielo, and all the cottage participants by going here: http://houseinroses.blogspot.com/
I am so glad you came by for a visit. It brightens my whole day when you do! I am thankful for my heritage and the family who has passed their faith on to me and helped to make me the person I am today. Sweet blessings to each and every one of you!

Periwinkles-- can I confess that I don't know what they look like when grown in the garden! Are they more a vine? I will have to see if they grow here in Colorado!

Hi Vicki...I'm here for tea, and I'm never disappointed...your tea cottage is so very welcoming. Your post brought tears to my eyes...I never met my grandparents. My granddaughter asks me every so often if I had grandparents, and I tell her, yes. Then she asks me what they were like and I tell her that they were wonderful and loved me very much. Even though they never told me that, I know its true. What treasured memories you have all around you...what a blessing they are.

Have a wonderful Tuesday, Vicki...God bless.

And that photo with the stack of 3 teacups? Wow!! The roses on those cups are so pretty and I love the raised texture on the cups and saucers.

Thanks again for sharing all of your beautiful pieces with us.

Oh My but I had to click on that first tea set and linger over the soft delicate shades of perfection. I must give it first prize for today...in my humble opinion.
