It is time for Pink Saturday, November 7, 2009

Welcome, dear friends to another Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly from "How Sweet the Sound". Thank you, Beverly for your faithfulness in hosting us each week. I almost decided to e-mail Beverly and cancel Pink Saturday post for this week. As some of you may know, I live in the Fort Hood area of Texas, and our hearts were broken this past week when our wonderful military men and women came under attack on post. We covet your prayers during this time as our community struggles to make sense of what has happened. Please pray especially for our soldiers and their families that they will not lose heart and for the families of the soldiers who lost their lives and for those soldiers who are being treated for their injuries in our local hospitals. I have not lost faith in God for I know that ultimately He has everyone and every situation in His hands.

The pictures are of some of my favorite pinks around my home: a favorite rosy plate, rosy painting, rosy tea cup and rosy pillow. The first rose from my garden is "Georgetown Tea' and was first discovered at a site in Georgetown, Texas. This is the first rose I see each morning from my patio door. The second rose is "Madame Laurette Messimy", a china rose, first introduced in 1887. The last two roses are "Duchesse de Brabant", a tea rose, first introduced in 1857. Teddy Roosevelt made this rose his favorite, often wearing a bud or flower as a boutonniere. All of these roses are some of the favorites I grow in my cottage garden.

Please visit all the wonderful pink posts today by going here: http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/

Each post this month I am telling something that I am grateful for. Today I am so thankful to be an American. I love my country very much. I hope each and every one of you are having a beautiful day. I am wishing you a very happy Pink Saturday. Blessings to you, sweet friends!

I am so sorry for what your area is going thru at this time. My husband retired from 30 years in the Air Force and this is a tragedy that bears no sense at all. All I can do is pray for the familes of all, Happy Pink Saturday my friend, Char

Beautiful pinks, Vicki : ) Love the sweet little pillow. You always have such pretty pictures to share : )

I'm very saddened to hear about what has happened at Fort Hood. It seems that when I watch the news, all too often I hear that there has been a shooting in America.

Sending lots of hugs your way, take care,

Yes, prayers are being lifted for the friends and families of those who died in the Fort Hood tragedy. Life is so precious and fragile...
Prayer may be simple, but it is so very powerful...

Your pink items are wonderful and the history of you beautiful roses informating and interesting. The sad irony about the Ft. Hood tragedy is that the shooter himself was a psychiatrist. I doubt we will ever know what led him to the point of losing it and taking others with him. So very sad! Peace and blessings to one and all, God Bless, Tammy

Vicki, I was saddened to hear about Ft. Hood, too. I have family in the military so I feel the pain of those families. When it happens to Americans, it happens to ALL of us, too.

On a brighter note, I love all of your pretty pinks. I especially am in love with your pillow! Oooooh, pretty! But the china and roses are super nice, too.

Happy Pink Saturday to you...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Hi Vicki! Such pretty pinks! Better hide that first gorgeous plate, as I live close enough to come grab it! ;0)

Saddened to hear about Fort Hood in the news this week. Saying prayers for the many affected. We have spent much time in the Salado/Georgetown area and lived in Waco as a young girl.

Happy PS!

Hi Vicki,
I just love that you have pink roses in your garden while we prepare for snow. Gorgeous!!!
I too am so saddened by the recent tragedy in your area. Having a son in Iraq makes me so mindful and concerned for our military where ever they are and as we've just seen no place is really safe. Although it is a most difficult time for the people in your area, it is also a privilege to minister the hope and love of our God who holds all things in His hands to those whose lives are broken and shattered. We will continue to pray during these next days for hope, grace and mercy to flow to those in need. Thank you so much!!!!! Meg

What a horrible tragedy for your area to be dealing with at this time. I feel for everyone in your community and particularly the ones who lost loved ones and the wounded and their families. Very sad situation.
