In memory of. . .

Dear friends, I live in the greater Ft. Hood, Texas area and as you may know, thirteen of our brave military were killed yesterday on post. Another thirty were wounded. All of us here and across our nation and our world are so saddened by these turn of events. The folks in my community love our military friends and try to support them in any way we can. We work with them, worship with them, teach their children in our schools and fellowship with them on a daily basis. Please remember in prayer our military and those who have lost their loved ones or had their loved ones injured. Also, remember our entire community as we try to minister to them and help them through this sad time.

~What a wonderful God we have. He is the source of every mercy, and the one who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us. ~2 Corinthians 1:3-4TLB

I was in shock when I saw this yesterday, Vicki. Our own American soil is becoming more and more dangerous. Every time I turn on the television, I hear hate coming out of the mouths of supposedly intelligent men and women, lies and deceit are rampant. Its as though the enemy from below has surfaced and is playing volleyball with us. But we do have a wonderful, caring, and omnipotent God, whom we can trust and put our faith in...He see the heartache of those fallen soldiers's families...bless their hearts. I am praying for them constantly, that they will find God and His great comforting peace today.

Oh my gosh, Vicki, I did not hear this news and can only wonder why since most times we get much of the state-side news even over here. I am so shocked, I can hardly believe it, and am sitting here shook to my bones. I can not begin to imagine what those families must be going thru right now, and will keep them in my prayers. I know that we all often think "what is happening in this world that we live in today?", but on days like this when I read news such as this, I must question that time and again. hatred and evil seem to be rampant, and it frightens me. thank you for posting this call-out for thoughts and prayers, at times like this positive collective thought can bring about some good.

My dear, I was in a taxi and was listening to the news; so much violence, pain and heartache. This world is groaning under the weight of sin. May the Lord be with those family at this tragic time.

We certainly will keep your community in our prayers and that the true and living God will be made maifest greatly in the coming days as He comforts those left behind in the wake of this tragey.
I cannot fathom trying to go through this without the comfort that He holds ALL things in His hands....may America turn to Him and trust Him now.
Please let your blogging friends know if we can do anythings else for the citizens of Ft. Hood

It is such a tragic story Vicki and it brought tears to my eyes yesterday as I cried for all the families who lost their loved ones. It's so hard to make sense of it all and I don't think I'll ever understand what posseses someone to do something like this. It will always remain one of lifes greatest mysteries.

As a mother of a solider who has spent two tours in Iraq I understand your heartbreak. It is a terrible thing when we are safe in this great land of ours...and we aren't...our children are either. We need to keep these offenders in prison for life but unfortunately the sex offenders and the worst of the worst get out to offend again. God bless America again!

Like you Vicki, I live within close proximity of a military flying station here in the UK. Each week we witness our dead heroes being brought home from Afghanistan by aircraft and driven through the village in hearses. Heartbreaking. It brings home to us too that certain Muslims will go to any lengths to justify their cause. When it happens on your own doorstep, I think it gives people a wake-up call as to just how serious this aggression agaist the West is becoming.

I have sat silent and prayed for all at Fort Hood several times since I heard the news yesterday. It is a sad day. It is hard to believe one of our "own" would do this. Sad indeed!
Thank you for sharing.
