Happy Autumn to everyone!!

I think tomorrow is the first day of autumn, but I put my decorations out last Friday because my grandchildren were coming to spend the night. They are like their grandmother and enjoy the fall festivities. I love autumn. Halloween and Thanksgiving are two of my very favorite holidays. As a young girl, my mother always made my Halloween costume. In fact, she was a very accomplished seamstress and made just about everything I wore. I always went trick-or-treating with my good friends, and we had so much fun getting to dress up and of course, that yummy candy, too. On several occasions we went to our school carnival where we did the cakewalk, bobbed for apples, "fished" at the pond for prizes, and went through the haunted house. Many times there would be a fun movie on tv Halloween night such as, Ma and Pa Kettle, Francis the Talking Mule, Abbot and Costello, Spanky and Our Gang, or The Three Stooges. On Thanksgiving, we would always have a big family feast with cornbread dressing, turkey, and my mom's delicious pies. I have never tasted a chocolate cream pie or a coconut cream pie as good as my mother made. Then, we always watched the football game afterwards. Our tummies were so full we could hardly move. But, later on, those left overs were even more delicious than ever.

Thank you so much for dropping by for a visit today. I always love it when you do. I am wishing for you many autumn blessings and a wonderful week!

Hello Vicki, now I really want to come visit you, in my favorite season of all! Your decorations look adorable and I'll bet your grandkids loved them! You always make everything so much fun, and remind me of my own happy childhood memories... we did many of the same things! My mama always said the 21st was the first day of fall, so I say it is too! Bisous... Julie Marie

Well, talk about a trip down memory lane from Homecoming to Halloween and then my FAV Thanksgiving. Our Thanksgivings sounded so much alike right down to 'cornbread dressing', but my favorite pie was and still is 'Pecan'. Your decorations are great and I bet your Grands love to visit this time of year. Enjoyed the movie sketch, too...not too scary for Halloween. Thanks for visiting my 1963 Homecoming...Sue

Oh! I forgot to answer your question about school. Grandfalls-Royalty High School, a small community in West Texas....closest city...Odessa-Midland. It's even smaller now than it was in the 1960's. My class graduated 14...I was not one of them as my family moved my Senior year 20 miles to Monahans. I graduated in 1965 with 153...a little bigger school. We are having our 45th Reunion next month. It's kinda neat...having two High Schools to claim...Sue

Hi Vicki, I love all your decorations. I also loved reading your memories about Halloween and Thanksgiving. I bet you had the greatest costumes too. We had a big Halloween carnival every year. I spent most of my time at the cake walk. I was no good at bobbing for apples, my nose turns up too much and I always felt like I was drowning. Great Fall post.
Hugs,
June
