Cupcake Days. . .

One of my sweet childhood memories occured about this time each year. Each spring, my momma would make her jellybean cupcakes. She would ice the cakes and then cover them with coconut she had dyed green and then put jellybean eggs on top. She would then come to my classroom at Sunset Elementary and bring cupcakes for everyone in my class. I was always so proud of my mother and thought her cupcakes were the most wonderful thing ever. The older I become the more joy I receive from these happy times and happy memories. Thank you, sweet friends, for coming by and letting me share my memories with you. I hope each of you are experiencing the promises that spring and Easter bring.

My first hummer. . .Happy Springtime Pink Saturday, March 27, 2010

Hello, sweet friends and thank you for coming by for a visit! I saw my first hummingbird today. My heart always skips a beat when these little birds come up for a drink of nectar from my feeder or one of my flowers. I feel like spring is really here when I see a hummer. "La Belle Petite Maison" sign was made by the kind Rebecca of "A Gathering of Thoughts". She is a very talented painter and creator, and this sign is one of my very favorites. I made the Easter garland that hangs in my living room. The other pictures are from the garden of Bunny Cottage. The picture of the hollyhocks against the adobe wall is from Santa Fe and was taken by Charlene Vandini on a road trip she took to NM. Hollyhocks will forever remind me of my growing up days in NM and many happy memories. Hopping down the bunny trail. . . Happy Pink Saturday, March 20, 2010

Hello, sweet friends! I have noticed that a cute bunny has hopped down the bunny trail and right into Bunny Cottage. Isn't she cute in her pink tutu? And who could resist that bunny puff of a tail? She is resting cozy in a fru fru nut cup embellished with pink flowers and ribbon. This bunny's creator is lovely Lori of My Faerie Window. Lori is a very creative girl who loves her home and her family. To visit her and see more of her goodies, you can find her here: http://myfaeriewindow.blogspot.com/ I found the bisque doll at a local antique mall. Her sweet face is what attracted me. My little granddaughter, Maggie, seems to be saying, "Welcome Spring!" I hope you have had a good week and are looking forward to seeing all the other pink participants for this week. Thank you, Ms. Beverly, for faithfully hosting our Pink Saturday event each week. You can find Beverly and all the other pinkies by going here: http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/
Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate your friendship so much!

First roses of the season: Old Blush

Hello, sweet friends, and welcome to Bunny Cottage! I just cut the first roses of the season. Every year it is one of my favorite and first roses to bloom, and it is called "Old Blush". This rose dates back to 1752, and it is a china rose. Most of the roses I grow are either chinas, teas, or noisettes. These are the antique roses that do best in the south. When I say "tea", I am not talking about the more modern hybrid teas. These antique roses have been around for many decades. These are the roses that you find growing on old homesteads and cemeteries throughout our country. They have survived with virtually no care at all. Well, I hope that signs of spring are coming to you. Have the sweetest of days!

A "Rosy" Pink Saturday, March 13, 2010

Top of the Mornin' to you my friends! When does that love affair with roses begin? I am not sure. Maybe in the springtime of our youth. My neighbor had a beautiful rose bush when I was a young girl. I can remember cutting roses from her bush and making flower bouquets for my hair. Today for Pink Saturday, I am sharing some of my rose covered dishes and also a few little Easter chicks. I hope you have had the best of weeks, and I am wishing for you a lovely weekend, too. Thank you so much for dropping by for a visit. Please visit Ms. Beverly, our sweet host, and the other pink posts by going here: http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/

Dreaming of spring at Bunny Cottage...Pink Saturday, March 6, 2010

"If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall."~Nadine Starr

Hello, sweet friends! Today I am sharing things around my cottage home that are reminding me of spring! Pretty red cardinals, bunnies, boys and girls in the garden chasing butterflies, rose covered dishes, and a little daffodil in my garden opening up to the sun. What reminds you of spring?

I am wishing you a barefoot kind of day with the sun shining brightly!! Please visit Beverly, our kind host, and the others who are sharing their pinks today. You can find them all here:
