Best Friends. . .

During my growing up days, my best friend, Pam, and I loved to go shopping on Saturday afternoon. Our first stop was always Woolworths five and ten cent store. We headed directly to the jewelry counter upon our arrival. Pam always bought a beautiful "diamond" ring, and I a "pearl" ring. These, of course, were our "engagement" rings (I am pretty sure our boyfriends at elementary school did not know they were "engaged"!) After our ring purchase, we would then peruse the Barbie dolls and all of their lovely adornments. Sometimes, if we had enough money, we would buy paperdolls. These paperdolls gave us hours of endless enjoyment. Last stop for the afternoon was The Corner Drug Store. This was one of those old-fashioned drug stores with a soda fountain. We always ordered a hamburger and coke. What a wonderful time we had and how grown up we felt on those magical Saturday afternoons. Pam and I haven't kept in touch as much as we should. Sometimes friends grow apart with the passing of time. Because we were friends of the heart and spirit I feel like we could pick up right where our last conversation ended. I hope you have enjoyed many friendships in your life.

I will post part three and four of Bunny Cottage next week. Hope you will join me then. For those of you who do Pink Saturday, I will see you then.

Hi Vicki,
I have loved looking over your pictures of your lovely cottage. I think our homes say a lot about us and I think your home says that you love beauty and life. It was great to see these today and I am looking forward to more.
Thank you for coming by my place, I love it when you do.
Hugs,
June

Oh Yes, I had a best friend like that. I remember playing with Barbie. She was the one from the late 50's with the brunette pony tail & striped bathing suit.
I also remember playing with paper dolls. My mother, who was an artist, used to outline the doll & create the most beautiful gowns for them too!!
My best friend passed away in an accident in 1976 at the age of 25. I think of her often....good Memories though...
Love,
Marilyn

I used to spend hours playing with paper dolls. I loved them. I must however confess that when I walked into a Woolworths, I hit the penny candy first!!!! Char

Those sound like happy memories and I hope you two will keep in touch.
I used to love checking out the nail polish first. Even as a little girl I had a 'thing' about having lovely nails, lol :o)

Oh Vicki, what happy memories that evokes for me too! My little sister Jill was (and is) my very best friend... we loved going to Woolworths too, we bought those little wax "Coke" bottles full of punch, penny candy, paper dolls, anything we could get for our 25 cent a week allowance... how I long for those days once again...I love how you and Pam got "engaged" to the boys at school...Julie Marie

Thanks for the walk down memory lane, it brought back some nice memories of my best friend growing up. Sadly she passed away 2 years ago and even though we did not live in the same area we chatted on the phone and had lots of laughs. Love your photos of your home too.

Love your post!!! When I was a little girl, paper dolls were my favorite! Great memories!

My mother gave me a pearl ring several years ago, but some time later, the pearl fell out.

My sweet husband had it fixed, and I just got it back this week. It's so exciting to wear it again!

Many, many blessings to you, Vicki.
