I had a few empty jelly jars in my cabinet. . .

so I decided to cover them with some lace

add some pretty seam binding ribbon

plus a few embellishments.

Then, I added a tea light and placed them on my mantle.  I like the way they look of an evening with the lights dimmed.

I got to celebrate the Fourth of July with all of my grandchildren in Roswell, NM  This is a picture of them plus my daughter in law, Corina, at the "Alien Festival".  We rode the carnival rides, ate snowcones, visited the alien museum and saw a few extra terrestrials!
We also went swimming every day, shot up sky rockets, grilled outdoors, played and had a wonderful time.  I am so fortunate to have these beautiful people in my life.  Thanking God today for my children and grandchildren!  Hope you are having a good day, dear friends.

I adore hats!!!

There is nothing quite as romantic as a lovely hat~

I wonder who the lucky lady was that had this beautiful bonnet fashioned for her~

This lady looks like she is ready for tea with her friends at "The Russian TeaRoom"~

I see this pretty lady strolling through a moonlit rose garden~

Who could resist a pink hat with polka dots and vintage millinery?

She is getting ready to stroll the Champs-Elysees~
This one may be my favorite of all because it is worn by Kate Winslett from one of my very favorite movies, "Sense and Sensibility".  I watch this movie once or twice a year at least.  Which hat is more your style?  I hope you are having a lovely summer day.  Did you get to see the beautiful and romantic full moon these last few evenings?  Wishing you many fun hat-filled days, dear friends!

Wildflowers. . .

My little granddaughter asked me the other day,

"Gee, what are wildflowers?"

I had to think about that one for a while.

I finally answered her that they were special flowers planted by God all over the land for all of us to enjoy.

I am so glad He did plant these wonderful seeds to grow into beautiful flowers for all of us to enjoy, aren't you?

Lady Bird Johnson loved nature.  She helped to beautify our whole nation by having wildflower seeds sown all over our land.  I sure do thank her for this every spring when I see those beautiful Texas bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush growing everywhere.

Life is an echo.

What you send out~

comes back.

What you sow~

you reap.

What you give~

you get.

What you see in others~

exists in you.

Do not judge~
so you will not be judged.

Radiate and give love and love comes back to you.

Vintage trailer love. . .

These cute trailers make me smile all over.  I would love to own one!

I would spend time at both of my children's homes. . .a few weeks in Roswell, NM

a few weeks in the beautiful Texas Hill Country near Boerne and San Antonio!

I think it is always good to have a dream,  don't you?

Hope you experience many happy travels. . .no matter near nor far
It could even be travel through the pages of a good book!  Sending you love and hugs!  Hope your week is a good one!

Summer vacation. . .

School will soon be out for the summer.  When I was a young girl, the end of school meant time for swimming at the beach.  The "beach" for me meant the Pecos River which ran right through the center of Carlsbad, New Mexico.  It was an oasis for us in the hot New Mexico desert.  There was sand all along the sides of the river.  We built many a sandcastle there and swam out to the small "island" in the middle of the river.  As a teenager, we sunbathed and worked very hard on a summer tan.

I also gathered flower bouquets especially roses from my neighbor's beautiful red rose bush.  She graciously let the neighborhood kids gather roses for a rose corsage which we usually wore to church on Sunday mornings.
Summer also meant time for cooking delicious mud pies which we served on dishes very similar to the ones above.  I loved my set of tin dishes and played with them for hours on end.  Maybe that is why I love beautiful dishes so much today.  Who knows?  I do think our childhood plays a very important part in shaping our lives.  Dear friends, I have just returned from taking care of four of my precious grandchildren, my granddaughters, Ally, Maggie, Henna and Olivia.  Their mommy and daddy went on a dream vacation to Ireland.  The girls are ages two, four, six and eight so you can see, we had a very "busy" time.  I am one pooped grandma, but I wouldn't trade this experience for anything.  I hope this fine day finds you doing well.  Do you have any special memories of summer?  I know summer is a way off, but it will be here before we know it!  Sending you happy wishes always!

I'm just a farm girl at heart~

I love the simple way of the farm life.  Not that it is always an easy life.  A farmer has to do a lot of hard work and a lot of trusting in the weather.

My daddy was a farmer.  It was in his blood.  When he wasn't farming, he was always looking for a farm.  He farmed on the plains of west Texas and in the dry desert of eastern New Mexico.  He had to do a lot of irrigating, but he was always so proud when that cotton crop came up!

I didn't grow up on a farm. My daddy farmed in west Texas before I was born.  We lived in town in New Mexico.  He went out to a widow lady's land and farmed the land for her there in New Mexico.  I can remember going out to the farm when I was very young.  He and momma would "chop cotton" and then in the fall, the cotton had to be picked.

One of my favorite memories of this time was riding in the truck with my daddy when he was pulling a load of cotton to the gin.  I usually was treated to a soda pop and a peanut patty when we were finished!!

I think I inherited that "farming blood" from my daddy.  I love to have my hands in the dirt.  Nothing makes me smile more than to see some seeds that I have planted begin to sprout.  Yes, even though I have never officially lived on a farm, in my heart of hearts, I am definitely a "farm girl".
Dear friends, thank you so much for stopping by to visit this farm girl today.  I hope something is making you smile or laugh today.  Sometimes it is the smallest of things that bring the most pleasure.  Have a delightful weekend!
