Hopping down the bunny trail. . . Happy Pink Saturday, March 20, 2010

Hello, sweet friends! I have noticed that a cute bunny has hopped down the bunny trail and right into Bunny Cottage. Isn't she cute in her pink tutu? And who could resist that bunny puff of a tail? She is resting cozy in a fru fru nut cup embellished with pink flowers and ribbon. This bunny's creator is lovely Lori of My Faerie Window. Lori is a very creative girl who loves her home and her family. First roses of the season: Old Blush

Hello, sweet friends, and welcome to Bunny Cottage! I just cut the first roses of the season. Every year it is one of my favorite and first roses to bloom, and it is called "Old Blush". This rose dates back to 1752, and it is a china rose. Most of the roses I grow are either chinas, teas, or noisettes. These are the antique roses that do best in the south. When I say "tea", I am not talking about the more modern hybrid teas. These antique roses have been around for many decades. These are the roses that you find growing on old homesteads and cemeteries throughout our country. They have survived with virtually no care at all. Well, I hope that signs of spring are coming to you. Have the sweetest of days!

A "Rosy" Pink Saturday, March 13, 2010

Top of the Mornin' to you my friends! When does that love affair with roses begin? I am not sure. Maybe in the springtime of our youth. My neighbor had a beautiful rose bush when I was a young girl. I can remember cutting roses from her bush and making flower bouquets for my hair. Today for Pink Saturday, I am sharing some of my rose covered dishes and also a few little Easter chicks. Hello, sweet friends! Today I am sharing things around my cottage home that are reminding me of spring! Pretty red cardinals, bunnies, boys and girls in the garden chasing butterflies, rose covered dishes, and a little daffodil in my garden opening up to the sun. What reminds you of spring?

Vintage Garland

Hello, dear friends. I got a new computer last weekend. My youngest son and grandchildren came for a visit last Saturday. I had been wanting a new computer for a very long time. When I told my son, he said, "Let's go take a look at some new computers." Well, that was all it took. I bought a new one with Windows 7, and Aaron hooked it all up for me. I even have a new copier/printer. Let me tell you, I am loving it! My old computer was ten years old and very slow. Not this new one. It is very fast!! I printed off some vintage girls and strung them on some pink ribbon and made a garland for my fireplace. I had so much fun! I will be addicted now. I will probably have garlands strung on every nook and cranny in Bunny Cottage. Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look at my new creation. I hope you are having a wonderful week!! Bunny Hop

As a young girl, I was a member of the "Bluebirds" girls organization. I have a lot of happy memories from my days as a Bluebird and then a Campfire Girl. I was always so proud to get to wear my uniform to school on the days we had meetings. The Bluebirds had an annual father-daughter boxed supper each spring. I loved this banquet because I got to spend the entire evening with my daddy. My mom always packed us a delicious box of fried chicken, potato salad, and her famous tea cake cookies, and then off to the Women's Club my daddy and I would go! After we had eaten our meal, all of the girls would perform for their daddies. One time in particular, I remember we donned our bunny outfits and lined up to perform "The Bunny Hop" for our daddies. We had so much fun as we hopped to the music. Do you remember the dance? "Do the bunny hop, hop, hop, hop!" I was so proud to perform for my daddy!
